This policy explains what information the game Vocabuzz (Android package com.equinox.fourwordsonepic, “the game”) collects, why, and the choices you have. The game is published on Google Play by EQUINOX (“we”, “us”), which is responsible for this processing.
In short
- No account: the game never asks for your name, email address or phone number.
- No advertising at present, and no advertising ID.
- Your progress stays on your device.
- In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, usage statistics and crash reports are sent only if you accept them in Google’s consent form.
- Elsewhere, they are on by default, and you can switch them off at any time in Settings.
1. Information stored on your device
The game saves your progress, your coins, your settings (sound, music, statistics) and your answer to the consent form on your device. This information is not sent to us. It is erased when you uninstall the game or clear its data.
2. Usage statistics and crash reports
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the first time you open the game it shows Google’s consent form, provided by Google’s User Messaging Platform (part of Google AdMob). Nothing is sent before you answer, and statistics and crash reports are sent only if your answer covers them. You can change your answer at any time in Settings → Privacy choices.
Everywhere else, usage statistics and crash reports are on by default. You can switch them off at any time in Settings → Usage statistics, and collection stops at once.
When they are on, the game uses two Google Firebase services:
- Google Analytics for Firebase, for usage statistics: the levels you start, complete or restart, the words you enter as answers, the coins you earn and spend, and the screens you visit.
- Firebase Crashlytics, for crash reports: when the game crashes, technical details about where in its code the problem happened.
Along with this, Firebase receives technical information: device model, operating system version, game version, language, an approximate location (country, region or city) derived from your IP address, and random identifiers that Firebase creates for this installation of the game. These identifiers do not reveal who you are, and they are not shared with other apps.
We do not collect your advertising ID, we do not use this information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
Why: to understand how the game is played (which levels are too hard, where players stop) and to fix crashes.
Legal basis: in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, your consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR); you can withdraw it at any time in Settings → Privacy choices, and collection stops at once. Withdrawing does not affect what was collected before. Elsewhere, our interest in understanding how the game is played and fixing it, which you can object to at any time in Settings → Usage statistics.
Google’s consent form
To know whether the consent form applies to you, Google’s User Messaging Platform uses your device’s IP address to determine your approximate region. Your answer is stored on your device, in the standard format of the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework, so that the game and Google can read it. The game shows no ads at present; this tool is the one Google provides to apps that use its advertising services, and it would also carry your choices about advertising if the game showed ads in the future. Google describes how it processes this information in its privacy policy.
Google describes the data each Firebase service collects at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
3. Who receives this information
Usage statistics, crash reports and the consent form are processed by Google, which provides these services to us under Google’s terms and privacy policy. Google may process them outside your country, including in the United States; these transfers rely on the safeguards Google provides, including the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
Apart from Google, we share this information with no one.
4. How long we keep it
- Usage statistics: kept for up to 14 months after your last use of the game, after which Google Analytics deletes them automatically.
- Crash reports: 90 days, after which Crashlytics deletes them automatically.
- Information on your device: until you uninstall the game or clear its data.
5. Security
Information sent to Firebase travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and is stored on Google’s infrastructure. Access to the statistics and crash reports is restricted to EQUINOX.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, in particular in the European Union and the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct and delete your data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw your consent at any time (Settings → Privacy choices).
Statistics and crash reports are linked only to random installation identifiers, never to your identity, so in most cases we cannot tell which records are yours. Refusing or withdrawing your consent, or turning statistics off in Settings, stops all further collection, and uninstalling the game breaks the link with those identifiers.
For any question or request, write to contact@vocabuzz.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority; in France, this is the CNIL (cnil.fr).
7. Children
The game is intended for players aged 13 and over and is not directed at children. If you believe a child has sent us data through the game, contact us and we will delete what we can link to them.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date. If a change affects what you agreed to, the game will ask for your consent again.
